Another Legend Falls

Hello chums and chumettes.

You know I did that blog about a computing legend (that wasn’t that cunt Steve Jobs) dying? I learnt today another computing legend has died.

That legend is a Mr Jack Tramiel. You may have heard of him. He founded both Commodore International AND Atari computing. He gave us the popular systems like Commodore 64 and Amiga, and Atari ST.

He started off repairing typewriters, then sold calculators, then started Commodore Business Machines.

The Death of a TRUE Technological Legend

Now we all know that Steve Jobs has died. And yeah that’s sad. But what you probably didn’t hear about is the death of someone more important and pioneering. A Mr. Dennis Richie. Now you probably haven’t heard of him. To be honest I hadn’t. But let me tell you who he is.

Dennis Richie created Unix. Unix is what Linux is based on. It is also what Mac OSX is based on. So without him, there’s be no Linux and there would be no iOS or OSX.

So just think about that, Apple lovers. Think about just which one of those people are more important. The creator of Unix, the basis for the best OS (and Mac)are based on, or a guy who takes old technology and sells it at an extortionate price.
