My Girlfriend’s Fibromyalgia

Hello friends. There’s something serious I’d like to talk to you about today. Most of you read my blogs because you’re a geek, because you have an interest in technology, gadgets, games or Linux, geeky things like that. But today i might attract a slightly different type of person.

As you may know, my girlfriend (her blog can be found here) has something called Fibromyalgia. In short, it’s a disorder that mostly causes pain throughout most of the body, and it can also cause sleep problems, stiff joints, numbness and tingling as well as some others. But they are mostly what Tracey gets. Here is a picture of the symptoms:

The problem is that, because there no external symptoms, i.e. symptoms that can be seen, people tend to think that it’s all in the head. It isn’t. It’s there. I know i can’t imagine what it feels like because it hasn’t happened to me. There is also no known cure for it yet.

And that means i can’t do anything about it. Medicines don’t do very much, they get rid of the pain a bit, but it obviously doesn’t cure it. And I am totally helpless. Not just because she’s in Dublin and I’m in Birmingham. Even if I’m there with her, there’s nothing i can do. I just have to sit there, knowing she’s in pain. At best I can cuddle her and do things for her. But that isn’t enough. I don’t want her to be going through this pain. But we have no choice. There’s nothing anyone can do except try to relieve the pain when it appears.

If you want to read more about it, the Wikipedia page is here.

On another note, I have recently came back from seeing Tracey in Ireland. As usual, it was amazing and we had loads of sex. We always have an amazing time. I love spending time with her. I love just cuddling with her. I try and touch her, hold her hand as much as i can. I love every moment with her.

And oh yeah, my Galaxy Note is a bit broken. It doesn’t charge properly anymore. So i’m going to leave for work early and take it back to the 3 shop. I miss my Note. I’ve been using my Nexus S.

Anyway I have to get ready for work. Toodle pip

Lizard, Cornwall: The Review

So yesterday I got back from Cornwall after a week there with my girlfriend Tracey, Andrea and Billy. It was probably the best holiday ever. Mostly because I was with someone I love for once.

The place i stayed in was a one floor cottage, very near the beach and very near England’s most southerly point. It was a nice place. The bathrooms were weirdly connected to the bedrooms. It had wireless Internet (At one end of the house) . It had an alright hdtv. It was no Sony bravia but it did the job. I’d brought my ps3 with me although noone played on it much for obvious reasons. Unfortunately the wifi didn’t quite reach the ps3.

We went to Newquay zoo and blue reef aquarium, also in Newquay, all in the same day. I took a video of a dude doing a talk on some sea animals. Which I may not have anymore, but if I do, it’ll be on YouTube. After that we went for a walk on the beach, I held Tracey’s hand, I climbed rocks, stepped in a puddle I didn’t see, Tracey hurt her knee, Andrea picked up stones and shells. That was all in one day.

I was also sick on one day, with what I’ve been getting a lot recently, vomiting up food I’ve had recently and then bile, and diarrhoea. I thought it was the local take away, since the first 4 times I got it the night I had one. But on holiday i hadn’t had one in days, so it’s in the clear.

It also happened today. Still no take away, so I don’t know what it is.

Anyway, back to the holiday. We all went to see a couple of castles, St Mawes and another one across the water i can’t remember the name of. Pen something. I’d upload pictures of all these places but they’re on my nokia n95 or my camera. I’ll add them when I get home. I’m at work by the way.

We also went to Bodmin jail. Apparently it was pretty haunted, seemed fine to me. It was pretty big, had several floors. And yesterday we went to stonehenge. And these castles, this jail and stonehenge, we had to pay for it all. We had to pay £7.50 to look at ancient rocks. Don’t you think that’s ridiculous. Am I the only one that sees that? They’re in fields. Public places. It’s stupid. I bought a baguette for £4.25 at stonehenge. It was a nice baguette. But not £4.25 nice. Overcharging us tourists.

Anyway other than the prices, it was probably my favourite holiday. Lizard was amazing, except for the lack of phone signal and low room temperature that we couldn’t make warmer because it’d affect the owner’s house since it’s connected. There was some beautiful views and nice houses. The shops opened late though, maybe because it’s not the time of year for tourists.

I do have one picture though. A panorama of by the lizard point Lighthouse. I don’t know how it’ll turn out since it’s so wide (that’s what she said).

Tracey got sick one day late into the holiday as well. She suffers from fibromalygia (I think that’s how you spell it). It’s some kind of neurological disorder, it can cause a lot of pain for her, makes her tired unable to move or talk much and makes her depressed. And there’s no cure or treatment for it. So I have to just sit there and do nothing while she’s in pain. I’m sure there’s been some point where we’ve had to watch a loved one suffer in pain. But she has to suffer, probably for life
