Stuff and Stuff

Hello friends. While i wait for Tracey to get back from watching Ted at the cinema, I thought I’d make another blog.

I’m ordering food from a Chinese not far from here. Not my usual, because that’s closed. Shame. It’s a good place. Got some cute girls that work there. Shame the girls don’t deliver.

Anyways, that’s all very fascinating, but one thing i wanted to do was a small computer building update. My graphics card arrived. I was under the impression that it had a HDMI port, but it doesn’t. More my fault than anyone else’s. Anyway i ordered the wrong lead because of it, but i’ve also ordered the right one, so never mind. Oh and i really need a more powerful power supply. Mine is 200W and i want at LEAST a 500W. And some more memory, but i’ll probably do that when i get paid again.

Now, what else is there? Oh, still on the subject of computers, i saw a cheap but high performance computer on eBay, better and cheaper than mine. If i knew about that i would have got it instead of building one. You’d think I’d be an expert eBay shopper buy now.

Oh yeah, last night just before i was going to bed, there was a GINORMOUS spider on the floor. Seriously, it was huge. So i went to vacuum it up, but the pipe was blocked and the spider kept crawling back out. So i squashed it. Job done.

Anyway Chinese is here and i always make a mess, so I’m outta here. Toodle pip

Computer Building Update

Hello my pretties. I thought i would update you with how my computer building is going.

Not so long ago i bought a CPU fan and thermal paste from good old eBay. Oh eBay, what would i do without you? Then a couple of weeks ago i got a processor. Now, the processors i want are generally around £300 for a 3ghz quad core. I managed to get one off Amazon for… an amazing £150. Yep. Half the normal price. I was surprised to find it. so i’ve fitted everything in.

There’s just a couple more parts i want. A better power supply and a graphics card, the ATI Radeon HD 6850, since it has excellent performance for its price. I won’t be getting it this month since i literally have -£1 in my bank, so i’ll get it next month.

I can probably get by with the power supply it has, but i really need the graphics card soon to get it at least functioning. I also want a few more 2gb RAM sticks.

On another note, I’ve been watching a lot of things on Netflix recently. Especially Knight Rider. I hope they bring Airwolf back as well, i used to love that. And my amazing girlfriend Tracey showed me a show called the 4400, so i started watching that as well. It’s freaking awesome. It’s like a mix between Smallville and the X-files (even with new Mulder and Scully types).

And finally, I have now hit over 5000 views on my blog. Good work peeps. Get recommending it to people you know. Share it and stuff. And go read my girlfriend’s blog as well here.

One thing i’ve just noticed is that my previous blog is in the top 5 viewed posts. That’s weird. What did i put in that to make it so popular in such a short amount of time? Maybe i should start putting topless girls in here to make it even more popular.

My stats. 5000 views and latest post becoming popular

54 views in less than 2 weeks. That’s pretty damn impressive, even if i do say so myself. Maybe someone is interested in what i do. Maybe someone is interested in building a computer as well. Maybe my old best friend is showing all her family and friends my post, badmouthing me. That’s what she does. Gets everyone involved.

Anyway, enough about her. I’m off to play some more Battlefield 3. Toodle pip, old chap!

Computer Building

Warning: Geek talk is contained in this blog

As you probably guessed by the title of the post, I have started building my own computer. I want to get more into PC gaming and video editing (remember the green screen I bought?)

So it started on Facebook when I saw someone selling a computer for £10. I wanted it, thinking I could take out the motherboard and maybe use some of the parts and replace anything I don’t want. Someone else wanted it as well, but I said I’d give them £20 if they delivered it. And they did.

So I got a huge ATX form computer. First thing I did was open it up and see what was in it. Pretty basic stuff. 512mb of ram, 128mb graphics card, and a fairly decent 2.8ghz single core processor, which was better than I expected, and as fast as you can get on that mobo.

It only has an AGP slot though, I want a PCI-Express slot naturally, for a shiny graphics card. It has plenty of PCI slots. It did have a wifi card though, so I yoinked that for my new motherboard. Although it doesn’t have an antenna. Hopefully it’ll still work without it since the wireless router is just a couple of feet away.

So here’s what I want the specs to be:

At least 2.8ghz dual core, preferably quad
At least 8gb of ram
Nvidia graphics card with at least 1gb of graphics memory
About a 32gb solid state hard drive to install windows and ubuntu on, for quick start up times
At least 500gb, maybe 750gb 7200rpm SATA hard drive (it came with a 250gb IDE drive)

I bought a new motherboard, an Asus something, it fit in beautifully. I should have researched memory more though, and got one with DDR3 , the one I got is DDR2. Apparently DDR3 is cheaper and faster. Just how I like my women. Anyway I’m stuck with DDR2. It can take quad core processors though, which is what I want. So I’ve been looking for some good (but fairly cheap) memory and processors. I keep getting outbidded on ebay though. I’ll let ya know how it goes. Might add a picture of it later. The chassis isn’t too impressive to be honest, but i’m going to turn it into a beast

Computer Exchange Android App

I would just like to announce… you guessed it, another android app i made (in a very loose sense of the word), using AppsGeyser. It’s just a simple app that takes you to the Computer Exchange (CEX) website. CEX is a technology store that buys and sells games and gadgets.

If you want to download the app, click click here or scan the QR code below

Samsung Galaxy Note

Hello everyone.

Two days ago, i tried to upgrade my Nexus S to a better phone on a better contract. So i looked to see what my phone provider, 3, had to offer.

There was a couple of phones i was thinking of getting. The Samsung Galaxy S2, the HTC One X, and the Samsung Galaxy Note. After a bit of specification checking, I decided to go with the Note.

So the next day, I went back on the 3 website and worked out what contract would be the cheapest in the long run, and worked out what was the cheapest one with unlimited Internet. I believe it was the 300 minutes one.

So i ordered it, and it all went through and stuff. So all was good with the world. But (there’s always a “but”) a couple of hours later, I got an email from 3 saying that the Note was out of stock.

I was disappointed. I wanted a phone with a bigger screen. But oh well, I’ll have to get the Galaxy S2. So back on to the 3 website I go.

So i go back on and go to upgrade again. But the Note is still there. I can’t change it. I try several times that day and it didn’t change.

So next day, I went into the 3 shop in town. I talked to a nice girl about it and she sorted me out with a Note. And here it is. It didn’t even have an upfront fee like the one on the website did. Result!

And it’s beautiful. The screen big. My Nexus S looks like a HTC Wildfire in comparison and the stylus works nice, although it’s a bit off centre, which can be quite annoying. Especially when drawing on Draw Something.

By the way, if you wanna play against me on that, my username is micolps3, as usual.

So that’s all for now. Play me on Draw Something. And enjoy whatever you’re doing and planning on doing. Toodles.

Another Legend Falls

Hello chums and chumettes.

You know I did that blog about a computing legend (that wasn’t that cunt Steve Jobs) dying? I learnt today another computing legend has died.

That legend is a Mr Jack Tramiel. You may have heard of him. He founded both Commodore International AND Atari computing. He gave us the popular systems like Commodore 64 and Amiga, and Atari ST.

He started off repairing typewriters, then sold calculators, then started Commodore Business Machines.
For more history and information about him, see http://blog.retrogamer.net/general/commodore-founder-jack-tramiel-dies/

Lizard, Cornwall: The Review

So yesterday I got back from Cornwall after a week there with my girlfriend Tracey, Andrea and Billy. It was probably the best holiday ever. Mostly because I was with someone I love for once.

The place i stayed in was a one floor cottage, very near the beach and very near England’s most southerly point. It was a nice place. The bathrooms were weirdly connected to the bedrooms. It had wireless Internet (At one end of the house) . It had an alright hdtv. It was no Sony bravia but it did the job. I’d brought my ps3 with me although noone played on it much for obvious reasons. Unfortunately the wifi didn’t quite reach the ps3.

We went to Newquay zoo and blue reef aquarium, also in Newquay, all in the same day. I took a video of a dude doing a talk on some sea animals. Which I may not have anymore, but if I do, it’ll be on YouTube. After that we went for a walk on the beach, I held Tracey’s hand, I climbed rocks, stepped in a puddle I didn’t see, Tracey hurt her knee, Andrea picked up stones and shells. That was all in one day.

I was also sick on one day, with what I’ve been getting a lot recently, vomiting up food I’ve had recently and then bile, and diarrhoea. I thought it was the local take away, since the first 4 times I got it the night I had one. But on holiday i hadn’t had one in days, so it’s in the clear.

It also happened today. Still no take away, so I don’t know what it is.

Anyway, back to the holiday. We all went to see a couple of castles, St Mawes and another one across the water i can’t remember the name of. Pen something. I’d upload pictures of all these places but they’re on my nokia n95 or my camera. I’ll add them when I get home. I’m at work by the way.

We also went to Bodmin jail. Apparently it was pretty haunted, seemed fine to me. It was pretty big, had several floors. And yesterday we went to stonehenge. And these castles, this jail and stonehenge, we had to pay for it all. We had to pay £7.50 to look at ancient rocks. Don’t you think that’s ridiculous. Am I the only one that sees that? They’re in fields. Public places. It’s stupid. I bought a baguette for £4.25 at stonehenge. It was a nice baguette. But not £4.25 nice. Overcharging us tourists.

Anyway other than the prices, it was probably my favourite holiday. Lizard was amazing, except for the lack of phone signal and low room temperature that we couldn’t make warmer because it’d affect the owner’s house since it’s connected. There was some beautiful views and nice houses. The shops opened late though, maybe because it’s not the time of year for tourists.

I do have one picture though. A panorama of by the lizard point Lighthouse. I don’t know how it’ll turn out since it’s so wide (that’s what she said).

Tracey got sick one day late into the holiday as well. She suffers from fibromalygia (I think that’s how you spell it). It’s some kind of neurological disorder, it can cause a lot of pain for her, makes her tired unable to move or talk much and makes her depressed. And there’s no cure or treatment for it. So I have to just sit there and do nothing while she’s in pain. I’m sure there’s been some point where we’ve had to watch a loved one suffer in pain. But she has to suffer, probably for life

Holiday

Tomorrow, I’m going on holiday with my sexy Irish girlfriend Tracey, and my best friend Andrea and her husband Billy from America. I’ve got most of my stuff packed, I’m just sitting here with a giant sized mug of tea:

Worlds Biggest Mug. Me

The hand is for size comparison. I would use a normal sized mug but i don’t have one easily accessible. It’s taking ages to drink.

Anyways, I’ll be taking my PS3 and my Asus Transformer. And my laptop. And my PSP. Good job i still have that big blue suitcase thing that my aunt gave me when i went to America. Although I’m sure i will be entertained plenty at night, if ya know what i mean ;D

So it’s going to be loads of sexy fun. It’s a long journey from Birmingham. I think about a 4 hour drive. One thing i worry about is the beach. Well to be more specific, the sea. I don’t mind getting in water, I’m not afraid of it or anything. I just don’t like to be topless. If you saw my body, you’d know why. I look pregnant. Maybe i should get a mankini. I suppose i better pack swimming shorts.

I’ll let you know what happens there after we come back. Obviously i can’t see the future. Oh and the song “Holiday” by Madonna is stuck in my head. Thanks Tracey. ALE ALEJANDRO! 😀 She knows what i mean.

Oh and on another note, I’ve hit over 3000 views now. Well done you, pat on the back. Oh and if you haven’t already, vote on the poll. There’s 10 days left to vote on it. It’s pretty geeky.

I’ve just realised i haven’t said where I’m going on holiday. It’s Lizard Point in Cornwall. Come over and visit us. We’ll be there a week. We clearly have plenty of entertainment. See ya in a week

Sleep

Let me tell you how well I slept last night.

I had to be up at 7.30 to be in work for 9.30. Now, I have enough trouble getting to sleep, and I got to sleep soon after 1.30. So that would have obviously been 6 hours. But for no reason whatsoever, my body decided to wake up just before 5.30.

So that’s less than 4 hours. I wasn’t even able to get back to sleep either, especially with my dad vacuuming and shouting. My body hates me I’m sure of it. And I don’t sleep any earlier if I go to bed earlier. I just lie there thinking.

Someone recommended vitamins but I keep forgetting to get some.

This has been a really short blog but I think I’ve made all the points I need to make. And I’ve been trying to write this blog for quite a while but I’m at work and we’re quite busy.

But now I’m done, so until next time, citizens!
